Things to Do and Places To See

Local Area In and Around Church Stretton

Mynd House B&B is situated in the picturesque Church Stretton Valley amongst the quiet and unspoilt hamlet of Little Stretton. Nestling beneath the Long Mynd, there is access to numerous walks directly from the house.

Take a casual stroll through the village and see the many quaint buildings some dating back over 500 years and its unique thatched church. Or walk up Ashes Hollow just behind the house, acclaimed as the best walk in the area, up on to the Long Mynd.

A short loop through Minton or Church Stretton will take 2 - 3 hours and get you back in time for lunch at one of the two pubs in the village or make one of the pubs on the Long Mynd your waypoint for a more strenuous day out.

On a clear day walk up Ragleth Hill for its stunning views across Wenlock Edge then carry on up Caer Caradoc (1500 ft) where remnants of the Iron Age hill fort are clearly visible today and from where you can see as far as Wolverhampton.

Still not lunch time! Then carry on to the Royal Oak at Cardington, Shropshire's oldest inn.

Other Attractions

Whilst the area's walks in peaceful and unspoilt countryside are its primary attraction there is much else to occupy you in and around Church Stretton. From horse riding and golf (a mightily challenging hillside course) to hot air balloon flights.

Little Stretton is equidistant from the historic market towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow with their picturesque Tudor buildings, 900 year old castles and abundance of top quality restaurants.

Ironbridge, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, is a World Heritage site, less than 20 miles away. The 13th Century Stokesay Castle is only 7 miles away and Acton Scott Historic Working Farm only 4 miles.
